A spokesman for the resigned Sadrist bloc: There is no return or participation in the elections
Shafaq News / A spokesman for the “resigned” Sadrist bloc from the Iraqi parliament said Wednesday, that the bloc will not return to the political process, stressing that it will not participate in future elections, “if the situation remains as it is.”
A spokesman for the Sadrist bloc who has resigned from the Iraqi parliament, Representative Haider Al-Haddad Al-Khafaji, said in a Facebook post, “There is no return to a political process based on quotas, there is no agreement with the corrupt.”
Al-Khafaji added, “There will be no participation in elections again if the situation remains as it is. The matter in which you are satisfied has been resolved.”
The leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, held, this evening, Wednesday, a closed meeting with the representatives of the Sadrist bloc who had resigned from Parliament.
The leader of the Sadrist movement told the Sadrist bloc’s deputies during the meeting that “there is no retreat from the resignation and withdrawal from the political process,” and thanked them for “obedience.”
He also addressed the resigned Sadrist bloc, saying, “There is no going back for us with the corrupt. The matter in which the two referendums have been resolved.”
