Al-Zaydi - We are interested in attracting Korean investments to IraqIraqi Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi affirmed on Tuesday the government’s interest in attracting more South Korean investments to the country, during his meeting with South Korean Ambassador to Iraq Lee Joon-il. According to a statement from Al-Zaidi’s office received by Shafaq News Agency, the Korean ambassador delivered to him a written message from the country’s president, Lee Jae-myung, in which he expressed his congratulations on the formation of the government, and stressed the importance of strengthening relations and partnership with Iraq, in a way that serves the mutual interests of the two countries and the two friendly peoples, and enables Iraq to overcome the current international economic challenges.

During the meeting, Al-Zaydi pointed to the importance of developing bilateral relations between the two countries and working together to expand cooperation in various sectors, particularly investment, energy and technology, indicating Iraq’s keenness to cooperate and benefit from the work and expertise of South Korean companies operating throughout the country.

The Prime Minister also affirmed the government’s interest in attracting more South Korean investments to Iraq, especially in areas where the Korean side has extensive experience and meets the needs of the Iraqi market, such as the automotive and electronics industries, pointing to the opportunities and facilities provided by the government in this regard and its efforts to enhance the investment environment and economic reforms.
