Iran threatens Israeli and American banks in the region and targets bases in Erbil.
Iran’s Revolutionary Guard threatened on Wednesday to target Israeli and American banks and economic institutions in the region, confirming that it had targeted a number of bases in Erbil, the capital of the Kurdistan Region.
The spokesman for the Khatam al-Anbiya headquarters of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard said that “the Zionist entity targeted one of the Iranian banks last night,” indicating that “targeting the bank gives us the right to respond to Israeli and American economic institutions in the region.”
The spokesman called on citizens in the region to “stay one kilometer away from bank branches,” stressing: “The Americans should expect our decisive and similar response,” in a reference to a possible escalation against economic targets.
In addition, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard announced in another statement that it had targeted American and Israeli bases in Erbil, the American Fifth Fleet, and Be’er Ya’akov in Tel Aviv as part of the 37th wave of Operation (True Promise 4).
On Tuesday evening, air defenses in Erbil, the capital of the Kurdistan Region, intercepted and shot down a drone near the city’s airport.
