Al-Sadr: The Sadrist bloc’s deputies are ready to resign

Al-Sadr - The Sadrist blocs deputies are ready to resignShafaq News / On Thursday, the leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, directed deputies of the Sadrist bloc in the Iraqi Council of Representatives to write their resignations in preparation for submitting them to the presidency of the Council, against the background of the continued obstruction of the formation of a majority government by the coordination framework that includes Shiite political forces.

Al-Sadr said in a televised speech today, “If the survival of the Sadrist bloc is an obstacle to forming a government, all the bloc’s deputies are ready to resign.”

Al-Sadr renewed his refusal to form the next Iraqi government on the principle of consensus, and said, “These are two options: either the opposition, or the withdrawal, and in general, Iraq does not need an absolute government, but rather an absolute government with a majority that serves its people and restores its prestige.”

He added, “Let my dear Sadrist bloc deputies write their resignations and submit them to the Presidency of the House of Representatives after instructing them to submit them in the coming days.”
