In the presence of 202.. Parliament holds a regular session headed by Muhammad Al-Halbousi
Shafaq News / Parliament Speaker Muhammad al-Halbousi opened on Saturday a regular session of the House of Representatives, attended by 202 deputies, in a session that was scheduled to choose the President of the Republic.
For his part, a source in Parliament told Shafaq News Agency that “the number of deputies present was distributed among the Sadrist bloc 75 deputies, the Sovereignty Alliance 61 deputies, the Kurdistan Democratic Party 31 deputies, independent deputies 17 deputies, and the extension of the New Generation Movement with 9 deputies each.”
The session was scheduled to choose the President of the Republic, in light of the “Save a Homeland” coalition seeking to pass its candidate, Reber Ahmed, while the Shiite coordination framework rejects this nomination, and calls for a consensual government and not a national majority as the leader of the Sadrist movement Muqtada al-Sadr wants.
