The Asayish security forces in Erbil are restricting media coverage of accident sites and warning residents against taking photographsOn Thursday, the Asayish (security) directorate in Erbil, the capital of the Kurdistan Region, made media coverage of incidents contingent upon obtaining a license in this regard, while simultaneously urging residents not to record videos or take pictures of incidents when they occur.

A statement issued by the directorate said, “In order to maintain security and organize the work of the specialized teams at accident sites, we urge all media outlets to deal responsibly with the situation and to refrain from covering accident sites until official approval and permission is issued to publish information.”

The statement called on residents “not to film or record videos or photos of accident sites and not to publish them.”

Since the start of the American-Israeli war on Iran, the city of Erbil has been subjected to missile bombardment and drone attacks on the Harir military base and Erbil International Airport, in addition to the headquarters of Kurdish parties opposed to the regime in Tehran.

Erbil Governor Omid Khoshnaw announced on Wednesday that the number of drone and missile attacks on Erbil has exceeded 100 so far and are still ongoing, holding the Iraqi government responsible for this.
