The Iraqi embassy welcomes the cancellation of the US authorizations for the use of military force against Iraq.
The Iraqi Embassy in Washington welcomed the US House of Representatives’ vote to repeal the two authorizations for the use of military force against Iraq. A statement from the Iraqi Embassy said, “The Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Washington welcomes the US House of Representatives’ vote to repeal the 1991 and 2002 authorizations for the use of military force against Iraq and to repeal the war laws, in a step that strengthens the partnership between Iraq and the United States and supports the bilateral relationship on the basis of dialogue and cooperation.”
The US House of Representatives voted on the National Defense Authorization Act (which includes repealing the authorizations for the use of military force against Iraq), with a result of 312 in favor of the bill and 212 against it.
