MINISTRY OF FINANCE SAYS 200 BILLION DINARS TRANSFERRED TO ERBIL
SULAIMANI — A source from Iraq’s Ministry of Finance told NRT on Sunday (March 27) that the sum of 200 billion Iraqi dinars has been transferred from Baghdad to the Kurdistan Region as part of the budget deal between the federal government and Erbil.
The source added the available revenue would be enough to distribute the salaries for a month and a half to employees in the Region.
A source from the ministry announced on Friday the oil revenue from February was returned to the ministry from the finance’s treasury.
The government is planning to distribute salaries starting from the beginning of April, according to information obtained by NRT.
A spokesperson from the government assured its commitment to distributing salaries on the 25th of each month but the government has failed to keep to this deadline a number of times.
Despite the value of a barrel of oil exceeding $120 a month, the government still faces delays in distributing salaries and some city employees have yet to receive their salaries for the month of February.
