The Minister of Planning announces an executive plan to implement quality standards in two sectors
Baghdad – People… The Minister of Planning, Khaled Battal Al-Najm, confirmed, on Wednesday, that the ministry has developed an implementation plan, to implement quality standards in the public and private sectors, as part of the work to achieve sustainable development goals.
The ministry said in a statement, “People” received a copy of it (March 17, 2021), after the minister chaired the first meeting of the committee to monitor and coordinate the implementation of regulatory controls and the national quality policy in Iraq.
According to the statement, the minister pointed out that “great efforts have been made in the framework of the pursuit of quality, but the results achieved were not at the level of those efforts,” attributing this to “the dispersion of the authorities concerned with this issue, indicating that the formation of this committee comes within the framework of institutionalizing and linking quality work.” Development plans led by the Ministry of Planning. ”
The minister explained, “There are many measures and steps that will be taken during the coming period, including the formation of a high-level committee from multiple parties to prepare a quality policy, within a national project for quality, and in line with the World Trade Organization agreements and the principles of the multilateral trading system.”
And it will be in accordance with a road map that draws the paths of the strategic implementation process, stressing that “the regulatory controls and quality infrastructure will take into account the review of health and safety-related legislation, review of organizational formations, institutions and structures, and the development of special procedures related to standards, specifications, accreditation, and conformity assessment points.”
The statement continued, “The head of the Central Organization for Standardization and Quality Control, Hussein Ali Daoud, reviewed the mechanisms for strengthening the infrastructure to enhance trade and consumer protection, indicating that the development of quality infrastructure will represent the process of bringing about comprehensive and sustainable changes in the structures, policies, economic, social and environmental indicators, and leading to the launch of And employing the capabilities of society and investing its material, natural and human potentials. ”
He pointed out that “the meeting was attended by representatives of the Ministries of Higher Education, Trade, Agriculture, Oil, Electricity, Industry, Minerals, Communications and Transport, as well as the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industries, the President of the Iraqi Accreditation Commission, the Director General of the National Center for Administrative Development, and a number of general managers and those concerned with the Central Organization for Standardization and Quality Control,” He witnessed the discussion of organizational controls and the national quality policy, and the tasks and work of the committee set up for this purpose.
