Mosul to be fully liberated within few days: Official

Chief of Staff of the Iraqi army Gen. Osman al-Ghanemi said on Saturday Mosul will be declared completely ISIS-free within few days.

The armed forces will declare the full control over the city, and the killing of all terrorists there, he added.

Iraqi joint forces fought fiercely, showing that its capabilities are on par with the world’s top armies, Ghanemi stated.

The Iraqi forces managed to attain victory in surgical operations that will be taught at military academies in the future, he went on to say.

The Iraqi forces, of all its branches, killed over 6,000 terrorists and evacuated over half a million civilians from the war-ravaged areas.

On his part, General Abdul Karim Khalaf, adviser of Arab European Counterterrorism Center said Mosul Battle is actually finished, and the remnants of ISIS terrorists are deemed to be dead.

The fighters of the Iraqi army showed great ability to control and maintain ground, he added.

The Iraqi forces are pushing on ISIS in the right bank of Mosul since February 19th with the aid of the US-led coalition.

Most of the city are now ISIS-free, with dozens of the terror group’s operatives are being killed on a daily basis.

Central extends the sale of national bonds to the middle of this month

Enorrste (Dinar Guru) –   Article:   “Vice: oversees the United Nations five-year plan for economic development in Iraq”  i agree with KAP [Guru Kaperoni…reference post 5-2-2017]  that the IMF is what she is referring to.  This confirms and ties into what we have known for some time, namely that the IMF is controlling the plans for change at this point.  Furthermore, they are on record that they intend to “bring Iraq into the world market” sometime in the first half of this year.  If they are on schedule then we should expect some significant changes within the next 60 days.  Of course this is Iraq, and even with the control in the hands of he IMF, it is anyone’s guess how long it will take to get to the float.

US Army: Kurdistan under our protection after the call

Liberation of Mosul Revives Economy in Kurdistan: Official

The constant liberation of territories in Mosul has positively impacted the investments in the Kurdistan Region, said an official.

“There has been progress in the markets of Kurdistan Region as well as its domestic and foreign investment, and these are all connected to the liberation of [the majority] of Mosul from Daesh [IS],” said Yasin Mahmoud, a spokesperson for the Board of Investment.

He noted that foreign investors had suspended their projects due to the security crisis caused by IS’ presence in northern Iraq, and now they are resuming their work as the group is nearing its end.

“Nearly $30 billion was allocated to reconstruct Mosul [after the complete defeat of IS], which is expected to benefit the Kurdistan Region’s economy,” Mahmoud stated.

He further revealed that Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) has also designed an extensive plan for 2017 which will help the revival of its economy.

Abbadi Office issued a clarification on Iraq’s agreement with America on its survival

National development plan Conference kicks off in Erbil

Started the first Conference events for the national development plan “2018 – 2022,” Saturday, sponsored by the ministries of planning and Kurdistan, in collaboration with local area development programme implemented by the United Nations development programme, funded by the European Union.

Local business owners roll up their sleeves and start the hard work of bringing life back to the city.

April 26, 2017 Mosul—Some businessmen in Mosul have begun rebuilding their shattered premises without waiting for financial support from the cash-strapped Iraqi government or for the final defeat of Islamic State in the city.

“If we wait for support, it could take a long time,” said Rafeh Ghanem, who owns an automotive spare-parts business in the eastern side of the city.

An airstrike in January reduced the two-story building that houses his shop and dozens of others to a heap of rubble and twisted steel rods.

US-backed Iraqi forces took back the eastern side of Mosul in January, after 100 days of fighting. They are now fighting Islamic State in districts lying west of the Tigris river that bisects the city.

Mr. Ghanem said he and the 25 other businesses that rent space in the building agreed to contribute funds to help the landlord clear the debris and rebuild one of the two stories.
Reconstruction started on April 11 and Ghanem hopes to return to business in three to four months.

He says waiting is of no use since the price of building materials is expected to rise as more reconstruction projects get under way, boosting demand for steel and cement.

The city, captured by IS in 2014, has suffered extensive damage as hundreds of houses and public buildings including the airport, the main railway station and the university have been destroyed.

Cement and steel prices have gone down steeply since the militants were defeated in eastern Mosul, as road connections have opened up with the rest of Iraq and Turkey, allowing supplies to resume.

A metric ton of cement used to sell for up to 350,000 Iraqi dinars ($300) after the militants took over nearly three years ago. It now costs 80,000 to 90,000, said an importer, Saif Ibrahim.

Iraq to Sell Crude Oil through Auction

Iraq will try to sell a supertanker of Basra Light crude oil at auction through the Dubai Mercantile Exchange (DME), a part of the US-based CME Group, according to Financial Times.

This move to sell the 2m barrel cargo follows Oman’s recent auction sales of two cargoes through the DME, which acts a trading venue for physical oil deals in the region.

The biding will start on Friday. Traders can bid though an electronic platform, but, a premium must be paid to Somo’s official selling price for June.

Somo is Iraq’s state oil marketer. However, the Kurdistan Region in Iraq sells its oil independently of Somo.

Another caveat for the highest bidder is that they will need to agree to ship the crude oil only to Asia.Besides relying on traditional methods of selling its oil, such as long-term supply deals, Iraq is expanding to others means of increasing its sales, such as forming a joint venture between Somo and Litasco, the trading organization of Russia’s Lukoil,-one of the largest global producers of oil.

Iraqi Forces Recapture Strategic Town near Mosul

Iraqi forces on Thursday recaptured the strategic town of Hatra, with its roads linking the provinces of Nineveh, Salaheddin and Anbar.

Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF), also known as Hashed al-Shaabi recaptured the town from Islamic State (IS) militants.

The town is located about 120 kilometers away from Mosul, but is of importance to the IS for its roads linking multiple provinces, which can be utilized for resupplying its fronts with weapons and fighters.

“Hashed Al Shaabi forces fully liberated Hatra town in record time,” said the Iraqi Army Staff Lieutenant General Abdulamir Yarallah, as reported by The Jordan Times.

According to Yarallah, IS militants incurred “heavy losses.”

He also noted that Iraqi flags were hoisted above key buildings following the victorious battle over the terrorist group over the town.

An archilogical site in Hatra’s vicinity was recaptured by the PMF on Wednesday.

The site has been damaged by IS militants. However, the extent of the damage is as of now uncertain.

Currently, PMF is clearing the western part of town from planted bombs and booby-traps left by the IS.

Approximately 5,500 civilians and 16,000 sheep had been evacuated from the area.
