Parliamentary Finance vows to pursue suspects of currency smuggling and money laundering
(Courtesy Holly1 – DinarUpdates.com News researcher) / .. Parliamentary Finance Committee vowed Tuesday to pursue suspects of currency smuggling and money laundering by the Iraqi judiciary and the banking sector and the Central Bank.
The committee member said Masood Haider told / information /, “The past period has seen significant weakness in the fight against money laundering and the smuggling of hard currency and therefore has been coordination with international financial working group to prepare a draft anti-money laundering, passed by the Parliament recently the law”, noting that “all measures taken to implement and activate the anti-money laundering and terrorism financing law is the responsibility of the Central Bank of class basis. ”
He added that the “anti-money laundering department at the Central Bank will be strengthened and judges linked to the Department of Economic Security, as well as the employment of legal and economic experts,” noting that “the law still needs more time and effort to fill the void in the banking sector.”
Haider pointed out that “there are the names of the accused of smuggling currency and money laundering to the Iraqi judiciary and the banking sector and the Central Bank, will be right to take legal action”. Finished.

World Bank: We are working to lend to Iraq billion dollars by the end of 2015

A statement by the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs received by all of Iraq [where] a copy of “Foreign Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari met with World Bank Vice President for the Middle East and North Africa the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, in search of the World Bank’s work and the support that could contribute to its mitigation mechanisms from the lower oil price crisis, and its impact on development in Iraq.
“Jaafari said during the meeting that” Iraq is passing through exceptional circumstance as Ajtaanna waves of corruption and today we have a problem in the decline in oil prices as well as accumulations since the previous regime which Iraq Cable Indebted time, adding that ” Iraq is working to take advantage of the internal sources of wealth, and wished to provide all possible assistance to Iraq.
“He stressed that” Iraq today offers his children and his money in his war against Daash terrorist gangs so we hope you will consider to Iraq from this angle, pointing out that the elements of Daash in Iraq from more than 100 countries, adding that by saying that “we are fighting on behalf of the whole world, and if Iraq bears direct responsibility in the defense of his country and the world is in need of support and backing of the entire international community, and we hope that you put in your consideration of this fact.”
He continued, “We do our part We will not hesitate in supporting the attribution of the World Bank in any single “stressing that” the work of the Iraqi government in the rehabilitation of destroyed cities therefore call on the World Bank project to help Iraq and show flexibility with us.
“For his part, maintained emphasized the World Bank’s focus on helping Iraq and to do everything he can to get out of this crisis, explaining by saying that “we seek to increase support for Iraq, adding that” the International Fund is working with the Ministry of Finance to provide loan to Iraq billion dollars, adding that “the process is not easy but we are trying to provide the amount before the end of 2015” .anthy

Bringing investment to Iraq
(Courtesy rcookie – DinarUpdates.com News researcher) Massive, popular protests for better public service in Baghdad and across Iraq this summer have prompted the government to announce and execute reforms, which, among other things, reduce the salaries and privileges of government officials and parliamentarians and take steps to fight corruption.
Iraqis are sending a clear message: they have had enough, not only of the so called Islamic State and the on-going war against it, but also from years of perceived public mismanagement, corruption, and lacking basic service – for example, the electricity network is not robust enough to provide more than 6 to 8 hours of electricity to the average household. All of this when low oil prices are expected to tear a double-digit deficit into the national budget, forcing Iraq to tap international bond markets for the first time in many years.
But next to these momentous challenges, the Iraqi government continues its agenda for economic reforms. And it is right in doing so as Iraq needs new and greater investment to get on the right track. Economic revitalization, promoting Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), and regional cooperation and trade are key components of any strategy to reduce conflict and build peace, even more so in today’s turbulent Middle East. Creating jobs, raising revenues to pay for quality services, and re-establishing regional economic cooperation are as important as reaching a political settlement and re-establishing security. They all contribute to the same goal, which is to create the conditions for stability and peace.
Governments have no choice but to prioritise action in this area. According to the World Bank, FDI in 25 countries that were classified as conflict affected or fragile grew at a compound annual rate of 12% compared to 4.5% growth in the rest of the world’s FDI in the period of 2005-2012…
..The figures show that in such high-risk countries untapped resources, reconstruction needs and unmet consumer demand present opportunities for domestic and foreign investors…
