Iraqi Federal police controls Mostashfa Jomhuri street in Mosul
The Iraqi Federal police have controlled Al-Mostashfa Al-Jomhuri Street in al-Shifaa neighborhood, located in Mosul's right bank, Lieutenant General Raed Shakir Jawdat, Federal Police Commander announced Saturday.
He said that the Iraqi troops deployed their weapons used to confront trapped vehicles and dozens of snipers on the roofs of the buildings. Also, the special forces have cordoned off al Jamhouri Hospital while shelling the area in which they destroyed the terrorists' training centers and five machine guns.
He continued that reinforcements, including fighting machines and armored personnel carriers, have been sent to Bab Sinjar and Bab Al-Jadeed districts in a preparation for the regaining of the Great Mosque of al-Nuri battle.
Security forces, backed by International Coalition air raids and logistic support of the US army, have retaken eastern Mosul and most of its western part after six months of battles. These forces are focusing now on controlling the Old City.
