Parliamentary economy talks about the provisions of the law "Trademarks"

April 10, 2017

Channel Aba / Continue

The Committee on Economy and Investment parliamentary, Monday, the most prominent details of the draft trademark law to be passed during the coming sessions, pointing out that the law consists of 19 constitutional articles.

"The economy and investment parliamentary close to the completion of the draft law on the granting of trademarks, which gives the right to the Iraqi government to grant licenses to international companies to sell cars and electronic devices to open branches in the country."

She added that "the terms of the law stresses the companies granted to the brand to give priority to the appointment of its staff to the Iraqis and their preference for foreigners," noting that "the condition was agreed upon after meeting with representatives of Japanese companies, Chinese, American, German and other foreign investment.

Najib said that "the draft law consists of 19 main constitutional articles, some of which are sub-items and will be presented to the Presidency of the House of Representatives to pass during the coming period."

1bobby says(6:38 PM):
When we 1st saw this it kinda threw us. As we delved further into what we are seeing is a WTO requirement. The TRIPS Agreement within the WTO guidelines mainly deals with intellectual property protections, it also go into trademark issues.

Now what they, US, China, Japan, Germany etc, don't want is a dumping of alike products into the Iraqi market, thus devaluing their products that will come into the Iraqi market.

It would be like certain parties selling a Vizio TV, promoting it as such, and when you get home, it has the inner workings of off market components that didn't even come from Vizio.

These products could range from something as simple as a TV, or something as complex as circuit boards. Now this is just one aspect of this Trademark Law. Another is Iraq gets contracts thru these countries allowing their product into the country thus promoting trade.

1bobby says(6:39 PM):
Some ask if this needed for an RV. What it is needed for is promoting trade which is one of the pillars that influences echanges rates.

Now as far as Parliament passing the law? Not much lately but still holding hope that things will speed up after Mosul. But i digress. This is just something to keep an eye on.

1bobby says(6:40 PM):
Thanks Pat

MadDScout says to 1bobby(6:40 PM):

Iraq and Kuwait to discuss mechanisms for achieving economic complementarity

MadDScout says(6:46 PM):
(elevator music)

MadDScout says(6:47 PM):
1 moment please

1bobby says(6:47 PM):
Way too long of an article to bring into chat. Plus Pat knows I suck at copy/pasting. This along with the Jordanian article today has bilateral trade written all over it. When they speak of "mechanisms" that means that the substance(s) of the agreement have been met, now they are looking towards implementation. Kuwait and the other ME Countries are learning that they can not survive by oil alone and they need to open the doors to more of a non oil revenue based economy.

In this article they speak of technical, economic and trade cooperation between the two countries that open the door to investment. They speak of such things as opening the trade highway between Kuwait, Iraq and Jordan and if we recall Kuwait invested $100 million to get this going.

They speak of such things as opening the trade highway between Kuwait, Iraq and Jordan and if we recall Kuwait invested over $100 million to get this going. Kuwait calls Iraq "An important and promising market"

What was interesting is that Kuwait is seeing all these other countries getting involved in Iraq and they feel as though they have been somewhat left out. Even the Emir of Kuwait got involved and said "Get it done". The big hold up is the VISA issue between the 2 countries that have denied Kuwait of opportunities.

From the Iraqi side two issues need clearing, legislative (could be the VISA's) and technical which could be worked out through the Council of Ministers.

The last thing on this is that Iraq has lifted a ban that basically gives the right to Kuwati citizens the right to own property and invest in Iraq. Now Iraq wants the same from Kuwait. And if we speculate, we can also wonder if the reparation issue was discussed as well.

1bobby says(6:49 PM):

Launch of the optical access network

13/04/2017 09:11

ABNewsflash says(6:51 PM):
The Ministry of Communications announced the launch of FTTH network next Monday funded by the Japanese loan project.

The director of the media office of the ministry Hazem Mohammed Ali said that a preparatory meeting was held under the chairmanship of the Director General of the Department of Planning and Follow-up in the name of Asadi and head of the work team of the Japanese loan and discussed the mechanism of work for the completion of all related to the success of this event in its technical, security and media.

He pointed out that the tasks and duties of the supervisors of this work have been determined.

He explained that the launch of this project will be held in the Ministry's office next Monday.

It is noteworthy that the optical cable was adopted in Iraq after 2003, as the Ministry of Communications tries to deliver the service to all provinces, where the system has several features, including high-speed, high-speed Internet, and video calls.

ABNewsflash says(6:53 PM):
Fiber to the home (FTTH), also called "fiber to the premises" (FTTP), is the installation and use of optical fiber from a central point directly to individual buildings such as residences, apartment buildings and businesses to provide unprecedented high-speed Internet access.

Al-Mahmoudawi calls for activating the project "national carrier"

12/04/2017 06:12 | Number of readings:

Trend Press / Basra

MP for the province of Basra, Jamal al-Muhammadawi, Wednesday, to activate the project of the national carrier, noting that the activation will benefit the province and contribute to provide the state treasury with additional revenue.

A statement from the office of the MP received "Trend Press" a copy of him, "Al-Mahmoudawi visited the General Company for Maritime Transport in Basra was received by the Director General of the company Eng. Abdul Karim Kanhal Al-Jabri to see the activities and events of the company and its future plans."

Al-Mahmoudawi called for "activating the national carrier project, which will benefit Basra and contribute to the state coffers with additional revenues," adding that "the need to intensify efforts to develop the reality of maritime transport and to promote it to the best levels.

"The work of the company and its divisions and their efforts to develop the work of the river section and revitalize the movement of the river taxi in terms of entertainment and transport people to alleviate the congestion and work on the establishment of new river stations in Basra, Maysan, Wasit, Baghdad, Hilla and Kufa."

MadDScout says(7:10 PM):
I bring this because Facebook had some questions about it and have we seen this before

MadDScout says(7:10 PM):
This report has a little more detail.

MadDScout says(7:11 PM):
(OPED) I forgot to mention but from Abdel Mahdi

MadDScout says(7:11 PM):
(( Here Mahdi is saying this project is worthy and can be funded in stages and by investment in the project. ))

The economy and parliamentary investment will contribute to the development and move the wheel of the economy of the country and adds to the treasury of the state of large financial returns, as experts see the economic situation that the establishment of such a project will be reflected on the overall economy, whether open to the world economically and the employment of thousands of manpower or activation of non-oil resources, Channel Freely overlooking the Gulf at a time that needs substantial funds and government determination and determination to implement them.

(( This project will "move the wheel of the economy and the country, serve as a non-oil revenue, and add to the treasury of the state ))

MadDScout says(7:13 PM):
(( Pointing to the greatness of the Suez Canal that was dug by "axes and shovels", and today is a great work. Also bringing up that Saudi Arabia has a similar project in the works to link the Gulf with the Red Sea ))

MadDScout says(7:14 PM):
Saudi Arabia recently completed the procedural steps to study the Marine Canal project, which links the Arabian Gulf through the Kingdom, to the Arabian Sea, to circumvent the Strait of Hormuz, enabling the Kingdom to transport its oil through this largest industrial waterway in the world's largest industrial waterways.

Minister of Water Resources Hasan al-Janabi described the idea in one of his tweets on his Facebook page recently, in a proactive, intelligent and practical manner. He pointed out that Adel Abdul Mahdi is a great economic mentor and his views are looking forward to the future with amazing intelligence.

MadDScout says(7:15 PM):
(( many things beyond just waterway locomotion. This will have peripheral projects associated with this main project. One helping link the gulf to the Arabian Sea, desalinization projects, water taxi's, and the overall usefulness of a railroad for the waterways. ))

MadDScout says(7:18 PM):
(( This project could be a huge boon for many industries. It will boost Iraq's fishery wealth.
It will be cost effective for the many cities that are connected by way of the water system, for moving goods(trade), agriculture, tourism, while impacting the local climate in a positive way, and reduce desert encroachment ))

MadDScout says(7:19 PM):
The project also helps the oil sector both for export and import or to benefit from seawater, The project can also be a substitute for many projects of the Ministry of Transport, Water Resources, Agriculture, Industry, Electricity and Oil.

In a related context, Iranian Ambassador to Russia Mehdi Sanai said on April 9, 2016, that Moscow and Tehran are currently in talks on the drilling of a shipping channel linking the Caspian Sea and the Arabian Gulf, the "North-South" transport corridor, which will pass part of it along the coast West of the Caspian Sea from Russia to Iran via the Azerbaijani territories. "

The issue of water is one of the most serious issues that will besiege Iraq more and more, especially as the prevailing approach is to continue to demand that Turkey, Iran and Syria release more water, a work we have done over the past decades. "We have to continue to cooperate with our neighbors, but we need serious actions to ensure our future, especially south of the 100-mm line of rain, which some see as the beginning of the desert line, which crosses the Euphrates south of Deir al-Zour in Syria to the south-east to Baghdad, Passing through the Black to the Gulf.

Iraq is suffering from the problem of the shallow depths of its sole and narrow sea port. In 2004, it launched the Large Port of Iraq project, approved by the Economic Committee at the time, which is based on the construction of a peninsula connected to the Iraqi land, extending 32 kilometers to reach the deep waters (22-28) Meters, is the other so far has not seen the light.

ABNewsflash says(7:21 PM):
WoW, and I thought the Mississippi was a busy waterway

MadDScout says(7:21 PM):
I thought this was a good report although these projects are needing implementation, this project would have a positive impact in so many ways for the good, both to the everyday Iraqi and to the bottom line for the treasury.

MadDScout says(7:21 PM):
Many parts to this project and it's goal is jobs, investment, transport, (interstate)commerce, tourism, a source for non-oil revenue, and the reviatlization and fertility of Mesopotamia

1bobby says(7:21 PM):
