    Said a member of the Energy Committee of the Parliament of the territory of Kurdistan Arwant April Omanaan, Saturday, that the intention of the territorial government to refer the Ministry of Electricity to the private sector that will contribute to ease the financial burden in Kurdistan, while stressing the need for the government's oversight role on the electricity sector in order to prevent the exploitation of citizens by investors .

    Said Omanaan in an interview with Alsumaria's News, "The Ministry of Electricity to refer to the private sector will help ease the financial burden of the government and contribute to the development of the electricity production better," explaining that "70% of the electricity the region produced by the private sector now."

    He Omanaan, that "the Kurdistan Regional Government allocated more than three billion dollars a year for the electricity sector with what the sector still faces big problems," stressing "the need to have a regional government oversight role on the electricity sector only to preserve the interest of the citizens and not exploited by investors ".

    The Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Qubad Talabani, announced on Saturday that the Government of the Territory may sell parts of the electricity sector to raise funds in order to bridge the gap in the budget caused by lower oil prices.
