    BGG says(7:44 PM):

    BGG says(7:44 PM):
    LIFT OFF!!

    BGG says(7:44 PM):
    First piece...

    BGG says(7:45 PM):
(and BTW - if anyone has a piece of big news they want to see covered - send it to Hutch and I'll get a look at it and try to work it in... )

    BGG says(7:45 PM):

    BGG says(7:48 PM):
I think I can break this down for you in three short excerpts...

    BGG says(7:50 PM):
said Haider " the need for banks tab and categorized over the next few years, as well as highlight the most banks stable in the market and thus make it international." ...

...(Haider) was baffled Abadi, was relieved of six directors of banks governmental organizations...

    BGG says(7:51 PM):
...in the market and thus make it international." ... (referring to the Iraqi market)...

    BGG says(7:53 PM):
..." revitalize the banking sector and Sir national strategy to stimulate the economy... the best formula, according to the government 's plans. "...

    BGG says(7:54 PM):
I have been beating this drum lately about there being a GOI PLAN for a few days now...

    BGG says(7:54 PM):
    it's in print...

    BGG says(7:54 PM):
    they have been clear...

    BGG says(7:54 PM):
now it looks a lot like Abaidi is moving things forward pretty fast.

    BGG says(7:55 PM):
oddly enough - there was a bit about Maliki wanting to "take Iraq back" to a point sometime in the past - talking about Iraq needing a "strong man" leader... HE IS CRACKED.

    BGG says(7:56 PM):
I really see this as success on multiple planes...

    BGG says(7:57 PM):
Abadi not only evaded Maliki's direct charge on him (recently) - but he is having some real success in removing corruption and implementing serious reforms and advancements in Iraq's financial sector. The key to their future.

    Hutch says to BGG(7:58 PM):
    wow WHAT GREAT NEWS !!!

    Hutch says(7:58 PM):
    ANY QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS?

    horsegal says(7:58 PM):
    ?

    Hutch says to horsegal(7:59 PM):
    GO

    horsegal says(7:59 PM):
so, there is a government plan that is being followed, despite the fact that there are still corrupt ministers in the government?

    Hutch says to BGG(8:00 PM):
[7:59 PM] horsegal: so, there is a government plan that is being followed, despite the fact that there are still corrupt ministers in the government?

    BGG says(8:01 PM):
Got to separate the GOI from the Parliament - of course there are plenty of Maliki left-overs... but it appears they see the writing on the wall and will likely fall in line as time goes on. Things will never go back to the way they were.

    BGG says(8:02 PM):
and ultimatley the GOI currently falls on Abadi's shoulders.

    BGG says(8:02 PM):
He wants legit people in places of influence. Technocrats - he's obviously read history and is learning from previous lessons (Germany - WWII)

    Hutch says to horsegal(8:03 PM):
    GREAT QUESTION !

    Hutch says(8:03 PM):

    BGG says to mrjazzman66(8:11 PM):
Abadi is chiseling away at his powerbase.

    BGG says(8:12 PM):
    OK - moving on.

    BGG says(8:12 PM):
Here's a guy I missed. LOOP!! You the man...

    BGG says(8:12 PM):
he put this in the Current Iraq News thread.

    BGG says(8:13 PM):
Iraqi ports apply "new tariff" mid-June current

    Dr.Tom says(8:13 PM):
Can they truly inact the tariffs with-out a reval of there $ ?

    BGG says(8:13 PM):

Long - Presse / Baghdad announced public company for Iraqi ports, on Thursday, the application of a new list of tariffs, as will be shown that the application of the middle of the current month of June, confirmed that the rise "slightly" witnessed some of the vocabulary of the new tariff.

    BGG says(8:17 PM):
Now - let me point this out. I don't get the sense this is some "broad based" tariff implementation...

    BGG says(8:17 PM):
but it is good news they are headed this direction.

    jtank says(8:17 PM):
    ?

    BGG says(8:18 PM):
things feel a lot like a process "in motion" right now...

    BGG says to jtank(8:18 PM):
    gimme a sec

    jtank says(8:18 PM):
With the tariffs fully enforced will there be much inflation with the Iraq end user or consumer?

    BGG says(8:19 PM):
I make these comments in light of commentary by their own economists...

    BGG says(8:20 PM):
if they elevate their full tariff package WITHOUT adding value to the Dinar - it would be economic SUICIDE. According to them (BGG paraphrase)...

    BGG says(8:20 PM):
hence my comments - Tariffs fully implemented = value added to the Dinar.

    BGG says(8:20 PM):
(previous comments - going back months... )

    tiffany01 says(8:22 PM):
    ?

    Hutch says(8:22 PM):
    ANY OTHER QUESTIONS?

    Hutch says to tiffany01(8:22 PM):
    GO

    tiffany01 says to BGG(8:22 PM):
So you are saying you don't think the full tarrifs will be done on the 15th?

    BGG says to tiffany01(8:23 PM):
I did not say that - I was commenting on this article on it's own merit...

    BGG says to tiffany01(8:23 PM):
it does not have the "feel" of some MAJOR TARIFF declaration - to me.

    tiffany01 says to BGG(8:24 PM):
    Ok thanks :)

    Hutch says to BGG(8:24 PM):
[8:13 PM] Dr.Tom: Can they truly inact the tariffs with-out a reval of there $ ?

    Hutch says to BGG(8:25 PM):
[8:18 PM] jtank: With the tariffs fully enforced will there be much inflation with the Iraq end user or consumer?

    BGG says to Hutch(8:25 PM):
    Fully?? - no - I doubt it.

    jtank says(8:25 PM):
    economic suicide answered it--thx Bgg

    Hutch says to BGG(8:25 PM):
    THAT WAS FOR DR TOM

    BGG says(8:25 PM):
If one looks at Abadi's record thus far... I doubt it.

    BGG says(8:26 PM):
he won't do that. He's been on Finance and Economic committees - he's smart.

    Hutch says(8:29 PM):

President Barzani announces new reform measures

    BGG says(8:31 PM):

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region (Kurdistan24) – The Kurdistan Region President Masoud Barzani announced new reform and anti-corruption measures on Wednesday aiming to restructure the government from its critical financial crisis.

    BGG says(8:31 PM):

In a statement released on presidency.krd website, Barzani stated that in the past three months 93 cases of corruption have been given to the Kurdistan Region’s Integrity Commission and the Public Prosecution and are under investigation and some cases are raised to the courts.

    BGG says(8:31 PM):
Barzani expressed his support for the joint reform plan by the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) and the World Bank in May 30, stating that the new measures are part of the reform package announced in February 2016.

    BGG says(8:32 PM):
The KRG has made nearly 40 decisions within the context of reform process, transparency, reducing the expenditure and increasing the revenue, many of these decision are related to transparency and restructuring of the oil sector.

    BGG says(8:32 PM):
    OK - here it is.

    BGG says(8:32 PM):
this mantra by the KRG sounds almost IDENTICAL to the GOI...

    BGG says(8:33 PM):
this is NOT AN INTERNAL playbook - this is WB/IMF "oversight" (if you can call it that).

    BGG says(8:35 PM):
And that folks are my comments for the nite.

    Hutch says(8:37 PM):
THANK YOU BGG FOR A GREAT NEWSTIME AND THANK YOU ALL FOR PARTICIPATING !
