Security forces declare state of maximum alert in Baghdad

( Baghdad – An informed security source stated on Monday, that the security forces have declared maximum alert in the capital Baghdad, after the followers of the Sadrist Movement besieged the Ministries’ headquarters calling the ministers to resign.

The source said in a brief statement received by, “The Ministry of Interior declared a state of maximum alert in the capital, Baghdad, after hundreds of protesters besieged the ministries’ headquarters, calling for the dismissal of the ministers and a comprehensive reform.”

The source, who asked anonymity, added, “The security forces were heavily deployed in the different areas of Baghdad, especially downtown, in anticipation of any emergency.”
