Director of the Middle East Department Masood Ahmed at the International Monetary Fund announced that the Fund will put the finishing touches in the coming days an agreement with Iraq on a program to monitor the country's economy.

Masood said on the sidelines of a conference in Dubai that the monitoring program will track the actual performance of the Iraqi authorities that may lead to agreement on a program of funding for next year.

This had been approved by the Iraqi authorities earlier last month that the IMF monitors Baghdad's economic policies through the program, which aims to cut spending and reduce the deficit in the Iraqi budget.
