Iraqi official: US embassy foiled two attempts to assassinate al-Abadi

Shafaq News / Al-Sharq al-Awasat newspaper issued from London quoted a senior Iraqi official that the US Embassy informed Prime Minister , Haider al-Abadi of two attempts
to assassinate him, one of them was in the advanced stages of implementation.
The official said according to the newspaper that the US Embassy in Baghdad foiled two attempts to assassinate Prime Minister , Haider al-Abadi, one of them was in the planning stages, while the second and reached an advanced stage in the implementation.
The official said that al-Abadi has already been subjected during the last period to a number of assassination attempts, however, that was detected by US help , one was in the process of planning by the elements at home and close to Abadi, while the second was at the entrance to the Green Zone from the suspension bridge in the capital Baghdad, which appears that it was a bombing operation, but officers have been arrested and confessed in their involvement in this process.
The official noted that the United States informed Abadi with two assassination attempts through its embassy in Baghdad, adding that the assassination attempt against al-Abadi appeared to be a result of some of the decisions that he took and his very bold attitudes towards some political forces.
