Kurdistan: The attack on the oil pipeline cost us more than $ 250 million

Shafaq News / Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) said that acts of vandalism on the oil pipeline extending to the Turkish port of Ceyhan in recent times has led to an almost complete

halt in crude supplies.

According to a statement of the Ministry of Natural Resources , the attacks cost KRG more than $ 250 million.

The statement said that the losses caused stop the export as the sabotage on the pipeline is equivalent to the amount of one month salary for police forces , Asaish and Peshmarga, noting that the pipeline is the main source of revenue for Kurdistan as through it , the employees' salaries is secured and make the citizens and the regional government on the performance of their duties.

The statement stressed that the Turkish government suffers from just a little damage caused by the bombing of the pipeline and that 99 percent of the damages lies on Kurdistan Regional Government.

The work of the pipeline, which carries Kirkuk and Kurdish oil to the Turkish port of Ceyhan stopped after an attack by elements of the PKK in the past week, though a shipping agent said later that pumping oil has resumed by using an Affiliate Link.

While the media center of "HPG" , the military wing of the Turkish Kurdistan Workers' Party, denied that they have deliberately targeted the pipeline of transporting oil from Kurdistan within Turkish territory.

He said that its fighters in southeastern Turkey have targeted the pipeline after Turkish air attacks against them without knowing its belonging to Kurdistan region.

The Presidency of Kurdistan Regional Government has condemned in a statement last Friday has strongly condemned the bombing of the Kurdish oil pipeline by PKK fighters, considering it as an attack on the citizens of the region.
