The President of the Islamic Supreme Council Ammar al-Hakim, the importance of the unity of political forces, and perspectives, with respect to solving the existing problems facing the country.
A statement by the Presidency of the Supreme Council that "Hakim stressed during his meeting with House Speaker former Mahmoud al-Mashhadani, that peaceful coexistence and societal security and welfare of the citizens, the basic principles to save the unity of Iraq," noting that "views were identical with Mashhadani about the political crisis and the prospects for resolution." He added that "Mashhadani's visit comes within the framework of efforts and consultative meetings between the leaders of the political blocs in order to ease the crisis and push for reforms in the political process."
