He pointed to the seriousness of the Government of Kuwait and their sincere desire to close the outstanding issues all with the Government of the Republic of Iraq sister, including freedom of navigation in the (Khor Abdullah) and Multi cases against Iraqi Airways, revealing his intention to visit the Republic of Iraq soon and the signing of several agreements in order for Iraq to implement all obligations prescribed by the United Nations and emerge from Chapter VII.

For his part, the Office of the Spokesman's press statement after the meeting made it that Ban Ki-moon «reiterated his personal commitment to work on the normalization of relations between Kuwait and Iraq», and also stressed that Iraq must fulfill fully and expeditiously with its obligations relating to Kuwait under Chapter VII of the Charter.

The statement added that the meeting also dealt with the developments in the region, including the situation in Syria and the peace process in the Middle East.
