Meeting of Iraqi – American Political, Diplomatic Coordination Committee begins

Baghdad (NINA) – Meetings of the Iraqi –American Political and Diplomatic Coordination Committee began in Baghdad on Sunday, Sep. 2, with the attendance of Foreign Minister, Hoshyar Zebari and US Assistant Secretary of State for the Near East Affairs, Elizabeth Jones.

A statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that in the meeting discussion covered International and regional issues, as well as Syrian Crisis and situation of Syrian refugees in addition to international efforts to put a stop to the bloodshed. It also reviewed Iraqi-Kuwaiti relations and role of American and Security Council in helping Iraq get out of mandate of Article VII.

The Committee established in accordance with the Strategic Frame Agreement signed in 2008 to consolidate bilateral relations within the frame of the Strategic Partnership, covering a number of importance fields, mainly security, defence, energy, judicial, law supremacy, education, culture, environment, trade and finance, as well as cooperation in the field of communication.

The Prime Minister's Legal Advisor, Fadhil Mohammed Jawad, and Foreign Ministry's undersecretaries, as well as a number of the Ministry's experts and advisors attended the meeting. / End.
