State of Law collects signatures to call President Barzani to parliament

ERBIL, July 29 (AKnews) – The State of Law Coalition headed by Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki has begun collecting signatures to call the Kurdistan Region's President Massoud Barzani to Iraq’s Parliament for questioning.

BarzaniAccording to some sources the questioning demands consist of four points: oil contracts, halting the Iraqi army in border areas, oil smuggling and controlling border crossings.

Kurdish MP in Baghdad Fatih Daraghayee from the Islamic Komal fraction stated that a number of members of the State of Law Coalition started a campaign for collecting signatures today to question Barzani in the Iraq’s Parliament.

Daraghayee said: "As the Komal fraction we are not against Kurdish national interests and are against this campaign.”

Daraghayee added that the campaign is illegal, unconstitutional and will not succeed.

Member of Iraq’s parliamentary legal committee Muhsin Sadoun said: "This is an unachievable campaign and will not succeed. Also it is illegal."

Member of the Kurdistan Alliance fraction Ashwaq Jaf stressed: "Barzani has a strong personality and he is a peacemaker in Iraq, thus I don’t believe fractions and other parties would collect signatures for questioning."

    Another trick in Maliki's playbook....
he sure does not seem like he is getting any closer to even a compromise...
let alone agreeing to the power sharing aggreement.
