ERBIL, July 29 (AKnews) – The Kurdistan Region's President Masoud Barzani said that he does not have any personal issue with Iraq's Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki but that Maliki did not fulfill his promises.

barzaniIn a statement released by the Kurdistan Region's Presidency Barzani said: "Maliki lived in the region and he represented himself as a friend. We tried to solve problems with him through dialogue but he deals with the issues individually. I was disappointed when Maliki sent troops and tanks to assault Peshmarga near Khanaqin in 2008.”

The president added: "We have problem with this mentality, which uses weaponry dialogue instead of the language of dialogue. I have no fear from now. If this mentality keeps going in this way and gains more power, this will create huge problems for Kurdistan and Iraq in the future.

“According to the constitutional obligations and responsibilities we have, we decided to have a position against this mentality. We only indicated to a problem which was there for many years without any position. Promises have been made for many years to implement the constitution and solve disputed issues but serious and promising moves have not been made. Article 140, the budget, Peshmarga demands have not been implemented,” stressed Barzani.

“The oil and gas law has yet to be enacted. Even inside the Iraqi army, Kurdish officials and officers were treated unfriendly and there were efforts to exclude them.

“Since the Erbil agreement, they keep avoiding executing the agreement. Thus the true meaning of shared rule was left without color and what is seen is efforts to take control of everything and to return to a dictator's mentality.”

Barzani added: "The Kurdistan budget was approved years ago but the region has yet to receive its share. They have seized the region's share."
