Washington allocates $ 10 million for information on al-Qaeda leaders

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The United States on Thursday spotted a huge financial reward for information on two al Qaeda leaders.

The US State Department said the United States has offered a reward of up to $ 10 million for information about senior al-Qaeda leaders.

Michael Ivanov, assistant foreign minister for diplomatic security, told reporters in a briefing that the ministry was offering up to $ 6 million in exchange for information on Saad bin Atef al-Awlaki and up to four million for information on Ibrahim Ahmed Mahmoud al-Qusi, who he said had encouraged attacks on the United States.

Earlier, the official account of the State Department's Rewards for Justice program posted a picture of leaders of organizations fighting in Syria and offered financial rewards for information.

"The United States provides financial rewards for information leading to the capture of these terrorists and their associates," the account said, and has set up communications figures via WhatsApp and Telegram, citing the confidentiality of the information provider.

The picture was carried out by the leader of the "Tahrir al-Sham", Abu Mohammed al-Jolani, Farouk al-Suri, the leader of "Haras al-Din", and the leader of the new ISIS "Haji Abdullah", known as "Abdullah Qardash."

Washington has rewarded information about Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi and offered $ 25 million for information to help locate or capture him. Media said after his death that someone close to him had helped US forces locate and kill him.
