Abdul Mahdi: Tehran and Washington do not want war and we contact them

Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi said on Tuesday that Washington and Tehran "do not want to enter into a war, while pointing out that there is no threat to the security of Iraq.

The Prime Minister added that "the security situation in Iraq is stable," stressing "the absence of movements threatening the security of the country."

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo held a brief unannounced visit to Iraq last week, during which he met with President Barham Salih and ministers Adel Abdul Mahdi and discussed developments in the region and the recent US-Iranian escalation.
