Cabinet approves land distribution and house-building schemes

The Cabinet held its weekly meeting in Baghdad on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Adil Abd Al-Mahdi.

The Cabinet discussed housing policy, and reviewed measures to implement the land allocation initiative announced earlier by Prime Minister Abd Al-Mahdi.
The Cabinet directed that those in receipt of social security payments and citizens with special needs be considered as a priority group in the land allocation scheme.
The Cabinet directed that the Ministry of Finance makes available the necessary funds to support the scheme.

The Cabinet also approved a scheme to build 33,000 low-cost housing units in Baghdad, Basra, Nineveh and other provinces.
The Cabinet approved the allocation of additional funds to the Ministry of Migration and Displaced to provide additional support to internally displaced people.
The Cabinet approved the establishment of a joint industrial zone between Iraq and Jordan.

The Cabinet also discussed other initiatives and measures and submitted a number of draft policies for review.
