For the first time in Iraq .. Launch of an independent laboratory for oil, fuel and "petroleum"

(Reuters) - Intertek announced on Thursday the opening of its first independent oil, fuel and oil products laboratory in Iraq.

"The new hydrocarbon laboratory built at Khor al-Zubayr port will support the growing demand for quality assurance solutions in the oil sector throughout Iraq, where it will soon, for the first time in Iraq, provide fuel test services for octane engines," the company said in a statement sent to Shafak News. "He said.

"This will enable the opening of the new 1,300-square-foot laboratory, Intertek, to provide services in this fast-growing market and in this strategic location."

Khor Al-Zubayr is comprised of industrial zones comprising petrochemical companies and companies from other sectors, which will benefit from the proximity of laboratory services to their operations.

The nine berths are vital for Iraq's oil exports and imports, enabling oil carriers, refineries, distributors and commercial companies to access the port directly.

The lab is located within the new oil storage facility of SKA Energy, a major investment in Iraq's oil and gas sector. The laboratory offers a wide range of services to the oil sector and related sectors, including sampling services and services needed by refining, marketing and distribution companies operating in the oil and gas sector and aviation sector.

The lab will also provide quality and testing services for crude oil, naphtha and gasoline to help customers maintain or improve fuel quality to meet commercial and regulatory standards. The laboratory will work around the clock, seven days a week and will provide support to solve the dilemmas.

"With the growing demand for quality assurance services in Iraq, we are pleased to take the first step in the sector with the opening of this laboratory," said Jan Skinner, Regional Managing Director, Intertek, Gulf and Pakistan. The needs of multiple entities operating within the oil and gas sector in Iraq to provide our customers with solutions to ensure the integrated quality.

"Companies in Iraq now have access to laboratory reports to help them evaluate their fuel in line with global standards in a short period of time," he said.
