US official meets Maliki

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - US Secretary of State for Iraq and Iran Andrew Beck held talks with the leader of a coalition of state law, Nuri al-Maliki, in Baghdad on Friday to discuss the presence of US troops in Iraq.

The two sides discussed during the meeting, which was attended by US Ambassador Douglas Silliman, the latest developments in the political and security situation and the ongoing efforts to complete the ministerial cabin, in addition to discussing the issue of the presence of US forces in Iraq.

He called on Maliki to continue joint work between the two countries, pointing out that Iraq adopts bilateral relations with the countries of the world, based on the patronage of common interests and face common challenges.

In a related context, expressed Kurdish political figures expressed concern about reports that the intention of the Security and Defense Committee in the House of Representatives to submit a draft resolution calling for the "exit of foreign troops" from the country, stressing the need for continued presence of these forces to the security and stability of Iraq.

This comes as the alliance, "Asron," which is supported by the leader of the Sadrist movement, Moqtada al-Sadr, his rejection of the US presence in Iraq and the security agreement signed in 2010 between Baghdad and Washington, calling for its abolition.
