Washington community announces aid to liberated Iraqi areas

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) said Thursday it was providing support to Iraqi areas liberated from the Da'ash organization.

"Through the Stabilization Fund of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), the rehabilitation of the electric substations in Baasheqa and Zeitoun and the power transmission line between Qarqoush and Bahezika provided transformers and electrical materials to the Baishika electricity distribution network," USAID said in a statement to Ashfaq News.

"The Stabilization Fund (SFOR) has also renovated the Kallatuk Primary Mixed School and nine water wells, and USAID's Iraq Community Empowerment Program (ICRI) has set up street lighting and traffic control systems to improve road safety, reduce accidents, and revive The anniversary of the genocide of the Yezidis and the provision of school kits for children in Baasheqa and its outskirts and the rehabilitation of the mountain park and the olive grove in Ain Waqil ".

The agency said it provides support to Ba'asyika through mental health, psychosocial services, livelihood programs, social cohesion and legal support services.

USAID's Office of Foreign Disaster Assistance (OFDA) said it supports relief organizations to provide humanitarian assistance throughout the Nineveh Plain, including more than 10 organizations operating in the Hamdania district.

He added that he provides cash grants to Baasika, allowing families to repair homes affected by conflict, re-establish business to pre-conflict situations and provide health services, including counseling for the mentally ill of vulnerable populations and addressing important protection concerns, Such as managing cases of gender-based violence, providing specialized recreational activities to support conflict-affected children, and distributing winter assistance to families throughout the district.

The US Department of State's Office of Population, Refugees and Migration (PRM) works through eight different international organizations and NGO partners to assist internally displaced persons, returnees and members of the host community throughout the Hamdania district.

The Office provides support to schools in Bashikha so that returning children and hosts have access to educational resources, and an international NGO is finalizing its plans to provide legal and psychosocial support to returnees living in Başiké.
