Iraqi Parliament to Finally Vote on Interior, Defense Ministers Next Week: MP

ERBIL — The Iraqi parliament is set to hold a session as another attempt to finally vote on the interior and defense ministers nominated by Prime Minister Adil Abdul-Mahdi, a lawmaker said.

MP Abbas Alewi, from the Sairoon bloc, said the issue pertaining to the two ministerial nominees would be settled on Tuesday next week.

He said major political factions at the parliament have reached an initial agreement, and that they will notify PM Abdul-Mahdi prior to the parliamentary session next week.

Abdul-Mahdi’s cabinet is challenged by the political factions who dispute his nominees for the two key positions.
