Abadis chances of becoming prime minister have increasedBAGHDAD – A member of the Fatah Alliance Haneen Qaddo, Monday, that the convergence of the coalition of state law Nuri al-Maliki and current Prime Minister Haider Abadi will raise the chances of the latter to obtain the post of prime minister for the second term.

Qado said in a press statement that “the meeting of the Shura of the Islamic Dawa Party raised the chances of Abadi to a large extent in obtaining the post of prime minister,” pointing out that “the rapprochement between al-Maliki and Abadi may be a factor in the latter’s premiership for the second term .”
He added that “the invitation will put Abadi as a sole candidate in the coming days,” noting that “Abadi has great fortunes in the premiership during the current time, as well as support the call and some political forces to him .”

The Gulf newspaper has revealed, on Monday, the coalition of reform and reconstruction of the “shake” with the announcement of the alliance victory, convergence with the coalition of state law, noting that the Alliance Suron expressed dissatisfaction with the procrastination of the alliance “open” on the selection of a compromise candidate for prime minister .
The new House of Representatives was elected on September 16, 2018 as Mohamed Halboussi as its president. Hassan Karim was elected to the post of first deputy and Bashir Haddad was elected to the post of second deputy.

The parliamentary elections were held on May 12, 2018 in Baghdad and the provinces amid tight security. The Electoral Commission announced hours later that the participation rate was 44% with the participation of more than 10 million out of the 24 million eligible to participate in the elections.

The results came out of the alliance of Sowron, supported by Muqtada al-Sadr first at the level of the provinces followed by the Fatah Alliance led by Hadi al-Amiri, and then the victory coalition led by Prime Minister Haider Abadi.

The days after the election witnessed a wide debate among the political circles that prompted the House of Representatives to hold a session and vote on the amendment of the election law, including the re-counting and manual counting of the results.

The Federal Supreme Court voted later to respond to the appeals filed on the Third Amendment Law of the House of Representatives Elections Law, while ruling that the cancellation of the elections abroad and the special vote were unconstitutional.

On August 19, 2018, the Federal Supreme Court announced its ratification of the results of the parliamentary elections and the winning candidates, confirming that the decision of ratification was issued by agreement of opinion.
