Arbil (Kurdistan 24) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Friday that US control of the eastern bank of the Euphrates is the main threat to Syrian territorial integrity.

Russia is a key supporter of President Bashar al-Assad and has given him military and diplomatic support that changed the balance of war in favor of Damascus.

America has a strong military presence in the Kurdish-led autonomous regions of northern Syria, with bases, airports, soldiers and military advisers. Washington says its presence is aimed at cracking down on an oppressive organization.

Over the past two years, Syria's pro-American Democratic forces have controlled vast areas of the grip of a sympathetic organization, including the city of Raqqa, Syria's main bastion.

Damascus insists on the restoration of control over the entire Syrian territory and the Kurdish elite earlier between the dialogue and the military option. Later, meetings were held between a delegation from northern Syria and officials in the Syrian government.

US officials say their troops will remain in northeastern Syria until terrorism and stability are eliminate.
