The list of Shiite candidates for the post of prime minister includes seven names, but the most fortunate among them so far is Adel Abdul Mahdi, a veteran Iraqi politician who has already occupied several sites after 2003, including the oil minister and vice president.

The sources said in a press statement followed by (Watan News) that “the leader of the Sadrist movement Moqtada al-Sadr, a supporter of the coalition, who continue to participate in the formation of the bloc of reform and reconstruction parliamentary, found in Abdul Mahdi, a suitable candidate at this stage to succeed Abadi and managed to convince the leader of the Fatah alliance Hadi al-Amiri support.

Although the sources say that “these nominations are still preliminary, but they confirm that Sadr and Amiri are trying to use the opinion of the Shiite reference represented by Sistani in the nomination of Abdul Mahdi .”
