Reform and Reconstruction Coalition is parliament's largest bloc: MP

MP Raed Fahmi said on Wednesday that Reform and Reconstruction Coalition represents the majority inside the Iraqi parliament on both levels of individuals or lists.

Whether to form the largest coalition based on signatures of lists' leaders or MPs individuals is causing disputes between political blocs in recent days.

Reform and Reconstruction Coalition, which includes Sadrist Movement leader Moqtada al-Sadr's Saairun Alliance, Haider al-Abadi's Victory Alliance, Ammar al-Hakim's National Wisdom Movement, Iyad Allawi's al-Wataniya Coalition and other political blocs are ready to prove that it has the greater number of signatures on both levels of individuals of lists.

Building Alliance, which is led by Nouri al-Maliki's State of Law Coalition and militia commander Hadi al-Amiri's Fatah Alliance argued that the largest bloc must be formed according to MPs individual signatures.

Maliki claimed that his bloc now has the stronger position, as al-Abadi's coalition only had signatures of support from party leaders.

The Secretary-General of the Iraqi Communist Party said on Wednesday that according to the Supreme Court's decision in 2010, the formation of the largest bloc must be based on the signatures of lists' leaders, not individuals.

National Wisdom Movement (NWM) said on Tuesday that the crisis of the largest parliamentary bloc will be solved without the need for Federal Supreme Court intervention if Kurds decided to join Reform and Reconstruction Coalition.
