Iran halts exports of electricity, water to Iraq

Iranian Minister of Energy Reza Ardakanian said his country has halted exports of electricity and water to Iraq.

In press statements, Ardakanian explained that halting exports of electricity and water is due to political and economic reasons as Iran seeks to form the next Iraqi government in accordance to its conditions, which include the assuming of Former Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki or Head of Badr militia Hadi Al-Amiri the head of the cabinet, in addition to Iraq's paying of $1 billion for importing electricity from Iran.

He stressed exports of electricity and water to Iraq will not resume unless these conditions are met.
