Iraqi parliament votes in favor of recounting and counting electoral votes "manually"
The Iraqi parliament voted in favor of a resolution that requires the Independent Electoral Commission (IHEC) to manually re-count and count 10 percent of the ballot boxes held on May 12, the Anatolia news agency reported.
The parliament, whose mandate is nearing completion, made the decision after a quorum of 165 out of 328 deputies, following two failed attempts last week.
The Independent High Electoral Commission is linked to Parliament.
Many political forces are demanding a recount of the votes "manually," amid talk of fraud, which the Electoral Commission denies.
