The maritime shipping line between Iraq and Saudi Arabia has been activated

King Abdul Aziz Port in Saudi Arabia announced the activation of the direct maritime shipping line with the port of Umm Qasr in Basra in order to intensify trade exchange between Iraq and Saudi Arabia during the coming period.

The Director General of the King Abdul Aziz Port in Dammam, Naeem Al-Naeem, said in an interview published by the official SPA news agency that “the administration of the port of Dammam initiated and under the direct guidance of the Minister of Transport and Chairman of the General Authority for Ports Nabil Al-Amoudi in coordination with the line of Tihama Shipping Services, In the operation of flights line between the port of King Abdul Aziz in Dammam towards the port of Umm Qasr Iraqi with the beginning of last March. ”

Al-Naim added that “King Abdul Aziz Port in Dammam is currently considering developing this line in coordination with a number of shipping companies in order to intensify trade exchange between Saudi Arabia and Iraq in the coming period and to make the port of Dammam a logistics platform to receive giant ships with competing ports in the region Exported to Iraq via the direct shipping line between Saudi Arabia and Iraq. ”

He pointed out that “the port is currently active in activating the decision of the Saudi-Iraqi Joint Council to increase the capacity of shipping between Saudi Arabia and Iraq,” stressing that “the port provides all facilities for companies investing in the maritime transport sector to promote trade between the two countries.”

Al-Naeem pointed out that “the direct shipping line between Saudi Arabia and Iraq has started work since early March and achieved positive results and indicators.”

He stressed that “Dammam Port seeks to develop and intensify the trade exchange between the two countries during the next phase, which will witness a significant growth in the container handling through exploitation of the geographical location of the port and make it a competitive logistics platform between the ports of the region in line with the vision of the Kingdom 2030.
