Abadi policy : We have opened a new page with Kurdistan and can resume flights by this date

Iraqi Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi said on Tuesday that his government opened a new page with the Kurdistan Region.

“We have opened a new page with the Kurdistan region, after reaching understandings with the provincial government,” Abadi said during the weekly press conference, stressing that “some wanted to increase differences and expand, but we want to increase cooperation, not differences.”

He added that “the Kurdistan region daily exports 300 thousand barrels of oil, so they will pay part of the salaries of regional staff, and we pay the other part,” calling on the authorities and stakeholders in the region to cooperate on this side.

He pointed out that “the orders were directed to open the airports of the Kurdistan region in front of flights, and they can resume from tomorrow or Thursday.”

Abadi announced today the lifting of the ban on international flights to and from airports in the Kurdistan region, after the government of Baghdad and Arbil reached understandings in this regard.
