Washington renews its call for dialogue between Erbil and Baghdad

The United States renewed its call for a serious dialogue between Iraq and the Kurdistan Region to resolve all the contentious issues between the two sides.

“Both Erbil and Baghdad should work together, the two sides should resolve their differences by dialogue,” US State Department spokeswoman Heather Noiret told a news conference on Wednesday.

“We have good relations with both parties and we are pushing them for dialogue.”

The Iraqi government led by Haider Abadi, in November last year, the share of the Kurdistan Region in the budget this year from 17 to 12.6 percent, was passed the law a few days ago.

Neuert considered the issue of the federal budget “an internal matter.”

She added that «America has created the appropriate climate to start a serious dialogue between the Iraqi government and the Kurdistan Region on all controversial issues».

Kurdish calls have increased to take a decisive position on the political process in Iraq, including withdrawal from it, and boycott the upcoming elections, in response to the actions and positions of Baghdad.
