Pentagon: We look forward to a long-term engagement in cooperation with Iraq against terrorism

A senior Pentagon official said his country is interested in a long-term partnership in security cooperation with Iraq.

A statement issued by the Presidency of the Republic of Iraq that “President Fuad Masum received in Baghdad Thursday evening, Assistant Secretary of Defense Robert Karem, and the accompanying delegation, and after welcoming the guest delegation, the President spoke about political and security developments in Iraq and regional relations, Iraq war against terrorism with the support of friends in the international community, and create conditions for the holding of the upcoming elections and the reconstruction of the legacy of terrorism from destruction and destruction.

The US Assistant Secretary of Defense expressed “pride and pride that the United States is an essential part of the victory factors achieved by the Iraqis against Dahesh, expressing the aspiration to deepen relations and long-term participation in security cooperation in the face of terrorism,” according to the statement.

The two sides discussed during the meeting, which was attended by US Ambassador to Baghdad Douglas Silliman, “the relationship between the federal government and the Kurdistan region and emphasize the need for the parties to work for dialogue and end outstanding problems.”
