A Saudi newspaper: Abadi Washington candidate to head the next government

A Saudi newspaper confirmed on Saturday that Prime Minister Haider Abadi is the only one accepted by Washington as head of the next government.

Al-Watan newspaper said in a report that “Abadi is the only person accepted by Washington, among the names of candidates such as al-Maliki and al-Ameri, and perhaps Baqir Jabr Solagh, a partner in the coalition of the conquest, which includes factions of the popular crowd.”

The newspaper added that “the three names agreed to the expulsion of US troops from Iraq immediately after the completion of the elections and the formation of the government,” noting that “Amiri and Maliki are considered the subject of American opposition.”

The newspaper quoted a leader in the National Coalition led by Iyad Allawi, saying that “in front of political coalitions, including the victory coalition headed by Abadi, very difficult options in the next phase after the parliamentary elections in the management of relations with Iranians and Americans”
