Iraq Resumes Compensation for Kuwait War

Economy News _ Baghdad

Kuwait's Deputy Foreign Minister Khaled al-Jarallah said that Iraq had resumed paying Kuwaiti compensation for the 1990 Iraqi "invasion" and started paying the installments a month ago.

Al-Jarallah said in a statement to reporters and his follower "Economy News" that the compensation will be paid in cash under an agreement under the umbrella of the United Nations program until the end of 2021.

On the properties of Kuwaitis in Iraq, Al-Jarallah confirmed that the property of the citizens is present, preserved and established, and there are contacts with the brothers in Iraq on enabling Kuwait to dispose of its property.

The United Nations Compensation Commission announced that the rate of payments from the Iraqi Fund for compensation to Kuwait will increase annually until 2021.

Payments from the fund were suspended in October 2014 due to security challenges and the difficulties Iraq faced in its budget
