Parliament votes on the date of elections and sets conditions for the government

The House of Representatives voted in its meeting on Monday on a resolution setting the date of 12 May 2018 as a date for the elections of the House of Representatives and obliging the government a number of paragraphs contained in the resolution.

The text of the decision of the House of Representatives according to a statement of the parliamentary information service received the agency of all Iraq [where] a copy of it that “based on articles [56 / II] and [16] and [20] of the Constitution and Article [7 / III] No. [45] for the year 2013 and on the basis of what was presented by the Council of Ministers in coordination with the Independent High Electoral Commission in its resolution No. [399] for the year 2017.

The House of Representatives decided to approve the identification of the 12th of May as the date for the elections of the House of Representatives that the government must:

First: Provide a safe environment for the elections.

Second: the return of displaced persons to their areas.

Third: The voting should be electronic in all regions through the use of electronic counting and sorting devices.

Fourth: The parties that are running the elections should not have armed wings.
