Iraq has formally acceded to the International Convention for the Prevention of Collisions at Sea (SEA), the Ministry of Transport said Thursday.
"Iraq has been outside the framework of the implementation of the international agreement for 46 years," the ministry said in a statement.
"By this step, our ports and vessels will be closer than ever to working within the White Navy," the ministry said.
The ministry's statement that "the Convention is effective for Iraq since January 4, in accordance with the provisions of Article 4/3 of the Convention.
