WASHINGTON: Iraq will receive more than $ 70 million in overflights

Iraq will receive more than $ 70 million a year from flying fees, the US embassy in Baghdad said Wednesday, noting that the success of Iraqi security forces in defeating ISIS would open the door to greater economic resources for the country.
“The success of security forces in expelling ISIS elements outside Iraqi territory does not only mean greater security for the Iraqi people, but also opens the door to greater economic resources for the country,” the embassy said in a statement.
“The US Federal Aviation Commission has decided that the threat to civil aviation is low enough for US airlines and postal code companies to resume flights over Iraq for the first time since August 2014,” the statement said.
“The Iraqi government will receive more than 70 million dollars of annual revenues from flying fees in Iraqi airspace, and will increase these funds from the income of the Iraqi Civil Aviation Authority and its ability to improve the air navigation system of the country,” noting that “these payments were going in Previous to other countries “.
