The Ministry of Agriculture announced on Tuesday the existence of full production capacity of vegetable crops and dates to cover the needs of the local market and prevent imports, and stop the process of dumping the market with foreign products.
"The Ministry of Agriculture has not granted an import license or a recommendation to grant leave for most vegetable and date crops, and the crops available in the market have entered in illegal ways," the ministry's technical agent Mahdi Mahdi al-Qaisi said in a statement.

"It is unfair to grant import licenses with the availability of local produce," he said. "There is a deliberate dumping of foreign products on the local market, which has negatively affected the productivity of local crops."

Al-Qaisi called on the private sector to take its role in investing in the agricultural sector and benefiting from the surplus in the productivity of agricultural crops, including the tomato crop in the production of putty and dates in the production of canned products, which will positively affect the farmer's income, the local market and support the national economy, For the manufacture of modern irrigation systems, including irrigation sprinkler and drip irrigation to reduce water consumption and salinity and soil soils.
