Parliament sees Rosneft's contract as illegitimate

The Committee on oil and energy parliamentary rejection and condemnation of the contract concluded by the company, "Rosneft" Russian with Arbil, asserting that it is a contract of legal legitimacy and unacceptable by the federal government.
"The Oil and Energy Committee of the Parliament strongly rejects and denounces the contract between the Russian company Rosneft and the government of Arbil, which was made during the last month and is considered a loss of legal and legitimate value," MP Ali Maarj, head of the committee said in a statement.
The Chairman of the Committee, "The contract was concluded after the decision of the Iraqi Council of Representatives in the month of September, which limited the sovereign powers, including oil contracts and oil exports, the federal government," stressing that "the Federal Oil Ministry is the only official and legal authority authorized by law and decision The last House of Representatives signed oil contracts and the export of oil. "
"The contract between the Russian company and Erbil is therefore considered as a loss of legal and unofficial legitimacy," MP Maarj said.
He called on the Russian company to "retreat from the contract and deal with the federal government and the Ministry of Oil exclusively in the oil sector," pointing out that the continuation of this contract is tantamount to prejudice to Iraqi sovereignty and the sovereign state.
