For his part, a member of the Association of tourist hotels in Karbala, Haider Al-Hanoun told the Journal News, "The absence of investment planning for religious events in favor of the country's economy, as in countries that rely mainly on tourism, led to financial damage in the city, Adversely affect the hotel sector and recreational facilities, which are not commensurate with the cost of its construction. "

He pointed out that "most countries in the world operate system, either hotel reservations in advance or impose on the traveler coordination with the Tourism Authority or tourism companies."

"The economic benefit of religious tourism enables the maintenance of the infrastructure and the rehabilitation of the city, damaged by these events that the Karbalaians expect annually to renew human values ​​and to prove the universality of their city in peace and coexistence."

Karbala witnessed the influx of millions of visitors from all over the world to commemorate the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him). The state and the local governments in the various governorates put forward plans for the success of the visit as well as the security effort to prevent any security breach during the visit.
