Parliamentary Economy: Increasing the percentage of employees' salaries due to the high cost of military operations and the reconstruction of liberated areas




A member of the Committee on Economy and Investment Representative, Harith al-Harthy, on Thursday, the increase in the proportion of the deduction of salaries of employees in the budget of 2018 due to high cost of ongoing military operations and the allocation of funds for the reconstruction of liberated areas.

"Increasing the costs of military operations and providing logistical support to sustain the momentum of the fight against terrorism and allocating part of the budget to the reconstruction of areas liberated from terrorism has led to an increase of 4.8 percent in the salaries of employees in the draft of the 2018 budget," al-Harithi told Al-Iktissad News.

He pointed out that "the conditions of giving the World Bank loans to Iraq, including the suspension of appointments for the coming years to reduce the number of employees working in the public sector."

It is noteworthy that a source in the Iraqi government told "Economy News", "The draft draft budget 2018 included an increase in the salaries of Iraqi employees by 1%."

He explained that "the text of the budget came in which 4.8% of the total salaries and allowances for all employees of the state and the public sector and retirees all to meet the needs of the state of the expenses of popular mobilization and relief of the displaced and restore stability."

He continued that "the Kurdistan Regional Government committed to deduct 4.8% of the total salaries and allocations to meet the needs of the Peshmerga.
